CollectHub · Auction Mechanism
Auctions, On-Chain Settlement & Price History
CollectHub auctions are a closed loop — listing, timed bidding, reserve protection, registry settlement and price attestation. This page explains the real mechanism; the live auction board and marketplace operate inside CollectHub.
The Auction Loop
List
A minted collectible is consigned to auction with a starting price, reserve and duration.
Bid
Collectors place Credit bids during the live window; the board updates with each valid bid.
Settle
At close, if the reserve is met the winning bid is settled and ownership transfers through the registry.
Trade
The asset enters the winner's inventory, ready for holding, showcasing or re-listing.

Timed English Auctions
Every listing runs a fixed-duration countdown. Bids are public and ranked; the highest valid bid at close wins. The live auction board is served by the collectibles auction service and shows current bid, reserve status and time remaining.
Reserve Price Protection
Sellers set a reserve (denominated in CEXRES Credits with a USD reference). If the reserve is not met by close, the item is not sold — sellers retain ownership and can relist. Reserve-met status is shown on every lot.
Credit-Denominated Bidding
Bids are placed in CEXRES Credits (CR), the platform's unified ledger unit, with a live USD reference so pricing stays transparent across the tri-currency economy.
On-Chain Settlement
When an auction closes successfully, settlement is recorded through the CollectHub mint/bridge registry: ownership transfer, provenance update and royalty distribution are attached to the asset's permanent record.
Secondary Trading
Won items land in the winner's CollectHub inventory and can be re-listed at a fixed price in the collectibles marketplace or entered into a future auction — every transfer extends the provenance chain.
Price Attestation
Final hammer prices, reserve levels and bidder counts are retained in the auction ledger, giving every collectible a verifiable price history that backs its valuation in later sales.
Why Provenance Matters Here
Every auctioned item originates from the CollectHub minting pipeline — AI-generated collectibles, achievement certificates, brand assets or access passes. Because mint metadata, auction results and secondary sales are all attached to the same registry record, a buyer can inspect the full lifecycle: creation hash, mint record, every hammer price and every owner transfer.
That verifiable price history is what makes a digital collectible a tradable asset rather than an image file — and it is why settlement and attestation are built into the auction loop rather than added afterwards.
